| ~~~Shinigami~~~
Name: Azrial Takahashi
Alias: The Enigma
Age: 320
Visual Age: Early Twenties
Gender: Male
Reiatsu Color: Dark Blue & Light Blue
Affiliation: The Gotei 13
Division: 10th Division
Rank: Captain --------------------Persona-------------------- Appearance: Azrial stands average height at 5'8 but has a slim tone to him that most people label him as "athletic". His hair is straight, short, and black as night. When staring at him during conversation, his left iris has a blue hue flame streaking across his face as he walks. His right eye is ordinary and blue tinted. Most people described his stare as uncomfortable and depressing but in reality his personality is more complexed than that. He usually wears his traditional long blue scarf and black jacket, with two white streaks going across both his arm sleeves with the number 10 stitched in blue across where his spine is located. He doesn’t wear a shirt since he doesn’t feel the need to. For his lower attire he wears his coded jet black pants since he wants to be different among his other squad captains and stand out from the pack to fit his "rebellious nature". Out of respect for his former mentor, and for everything he has done for him, he wears the traditional white captain kimono that his mentor used to wear but with both arm sleeves torn off. From a strangers perspective he looks, and acts, like the “black sheep’’ among the gotei 13 with his unorthodox ways of thinking, colorful vocabulary that he proudly displays for his fellow squad members in order to get his point across, never shy of what he wants to express himself in order to achieve anything for his team, even if its for selfish desires. Personality: Azrial loves to lead by example. Even if his fellow Shinigami don't agree to his questionable fighting methods, or his inexperience in the leadership role, he always stands true to what he believes in and that is equal opportunity for others, his job as a shinigami, and his endless loyalty to the soul society. His leadership has been called into question due to his "rebellious" nature to make decisions that require the entire gotei 13's blessing. He comes off as an arrogant, cocky, know it all but the true fact remains that he is a very kind hearted person that possessed the mind of a true strategist. He often masks his emotions from others to throw off his fellow squad members, and enemies, in order to keep his true intentions a mystery, He hates being predictable nor being the subject of “charity”. Because of this he is often watched by his fellow superiors since they feel that his arrogance may be his only downfall, not only for him, but for his squad in general. When it comes to brute strength, and physical prowess, he lacks from all sides but in the art of deception, and trickery, it’s his biggest asset during battle. Either it may be his silver tongue to get out of situations, manipulative tactics over others energy to throw them off their stance to mislead his fighting style or just to get in his opponents head. He has this bad, also good, habit of studying everyone he comes across just observing their true weakness's and disadvantages to gain an upper hand if there would be a situation that may be required to take action. So much in fact that he refuses to fight, or counter, back with any powers until he feels that he has gathered enough information to gain him a guaranteed victory. When not in battle with fierce enemies, or his fellow superiors, he comforts himself with alcohol to hide his loneliness and repeating thoughts of feeling like an outcast and never feeling equal within the soul society. Never knowing his true family or having any connection to anyone breaks him apart hence why his arrogance and conceited ways helps him feel confident that he’s the best there is, the best there was, and the best that ever will be. A legend in his own mind. --------------------History-------------------- - Early Years:
Azrial never knew his true family since he was abandoned for unknown reasons. Very soon after his birth he was discovered by a female arrancar, while sleeping in a food basket near a creek. She went by the name of Sapphire Takahashi, later she taken Azrial in by her family to be raised as if it was their own, knowing that he wasn't like them in any way. Very poor family of thieves, and murders, they never revealed to Azrial their true identities and play it off as if they were a normal family, always feeding him normal food and keeping the customs normal in front of him instead of introducing him to soul collecting, feasting souls, and other arancer traditions. Azrial, for the most part of his early childhood, was raised by Fugiwara Takahashi, the leader of the family. Fugiwara stood 7 feet tall and a very intimidating individual with such a cruel presence to him. He’s covered with battle scars all over his face, as a sign of an experienced fighter that has seen it all and always wore a black glove on his right hand for no reasons given. Fugiwara taught him early hand to hand fighting techniques by having constant sparring matches, testing true test of wit when it came to the art of trickery and deception to fool any opponent to guarantee him sure victory every time. “Small Fry, never forget to know your opponents soft spot that makes them tick, that’s a sure way of catching them off guard. Kick them while their down, gouge them, do whatever it takes to win…to survive”, Fugiwars very serious tone stuck with Azrial throughout his childhood, never trusting anyone nor expressing himself out of fear that he may be taking advantage of. Those words stuck with him to this very day. Fugiwara also home schooled him for anything that may prove useful for the near future. Such as advanced mathematics, secrets of harnessing his spiritual energies to be used it as a weapon, having him stay in the wilderness for days at a time to learn how to fend for himself, and advanced psychology in order to read his opponents and always to be 10 steps ahead of the event at hand. However Azrial loses control during one of the teachings to where he harnessed too much energy to the point it became visible bursting out of his left eye, leaving a flame streak across his face for the rest of his life. When Azrial turned 70 he learned that his family has been acting rather out of the norm, sensing strange, but unfamiliar, energy signatures, late night outings without telling him and the smell of tainted flesh coming from Fugiwara’s room every night. One night, when he came home from hunting, he planned to confront them about every suspicious activity that has been proceeding but unknown to him he will witness one of most traumatizing events of his life. While walking through the house that night, he peeked in Fugiwara’s room and witnessed the Takahashi clan feasting, and harvesting, souls as if they were playthings. Also he see strange holes on certain body parts, especially Fugiwara’s , which his was located on his right palm. Very disturbing imagery that can cause any person to lose their sanity. Seeing Sapphire drenched in unknown liquid with three other males flattering about with dead bodies as if they were lawn furniture. But little did they know Azrial was watching with his very eyes and can’t believe seeing his only father figure fornicating with sapphire on top of a dead body and laughing about it as if everything was glamorous and golden. He doesn’t know if everything he has known for years about his family has been a lie to him all this time or just a huge misunderstanding. He knew the difference between right and wrong at this point and also knows what they are doing is very grotesque and just seeing them act completely different frighten him to the point he feared for his life. Soon after that horrific event, he gathered the courage to runaway so he can start a new life without his supposed family.
- Arriving at Soul Society:
100 years has went by since he ran away from the Takahashi clan. For years he has been traveling realm to realm in order to search his true meaning on this world, never knowing his role in life. Never knowing what his purpose is nor did he even know why he was still alive. He always gathered and stole what he can to get by, nothing expensive such as food scraps, weapons, and items to make traps while he camps in the wilderness. One day while he was wondering the empty plains of an unknown land searching for scraps, starving and dehydrating, he felt this strange pressure that stopped him cold making him drop to his knees. Then he realized that he was 10 miles outside the walls of the soul society. He remembered all the stories and tales that he has heard about the Soul Society, during the times he lived with his late foster father Fugiwara. He has been taught how it’s a tormenting place for people of his kind and how they never accept anyone lower class. He was taught to never step foot past the walls of the plaza if he valued his life. He was taught to kill any that he may come across. All of that information has always haunted him and made him feel uneasy, especially feeling so many spiritual energies at once. His body feels that it may collapse. Never once did Azrial feel vulnerable to the point he might die at any moment. But yet he can’t help but approach the walls, as he walks forward very slowly. With such thoughts coursing through his head, its always one thought that kept repeating and that was a consistent thought of suicide and maybe granting him that very wish, he could care less. With every step he feels weaker and weaker, slowly losing his vision then collapsed just 2 miles away from the front entrance. After a whole day of being unconscious and dazed, he wakes up in a cell with shackles around his wrist. Confused on that happened he asked the guard nearby where he is being held but refuses to answer. After waiting a few more hours someone finally came by the cell. Some figure dressed in a white kimono with a number stitched on the back signifying hes a captain for a certain squad, but can’t make out the number at the time. The unknown squad captain ordered the guard to release the bars and free Azrial from any charges he was brought against. As they walked outside the squad captain explained that Azrial broke a law of some kind that would have been tried and possibly executed. But the guard can sense that Azrial isn’t a threat due to his demeanor and reaction to the questions, also by his spiritual pressure. The captain explains that Azrial was in the holding cell of Soul Society, and asked him why he’s here and what was his purpose. Azrial responded that he had no purpose and was aimlessly wondering around the land just scavenging for food and scraps. After he explained his life story to the captain, and how it led up to this point, the captain escorted him to his captain’s chambers. The captain explained to Azrial the serious situation here and how he technically trespassed on their premises giving the impression that he’s a threat, due to his uncontrollable spiritual energy, offers him an opportunity to do something with his life and offer him a true life goal of dedicating his services to him to gain a purpose for his life. Azrial accepted. Pleased to hear his decision the captain revealed that he is the 10th division squad captain and presented his name as “Ceil”. Azrial has explained his life and how it lead up to this point and about his family and arrancer relations. He learned that the Takahashi clan were indeed arrancer and the Takahashi clan are the most dangerous gang of murders and thieves to the soul society. He also explains that they Soul Society is currently at war with them and showing no signs of stopping. Disgusted by the news and information being told by Ceil, Azrial desperately begs Ceil to be trained under him and teach him the ways of learning the good ways of a true man and what it means to feel whole. Thus for the next 100 years Azrial trained under Ceil, teaching him in the fine arts of various sword fighting techniques, helping him combine his unique training on the art of deception, that he received from Fujiwara before, and combining it to Ceil’s training. Soon he finally earned the rank of Lieutenant of Squad 10. During that time Azrial has been finding that long overdue question on what his purpose in life was and Ceil has given him that precious gift of realizing that life is more to it than tragedy and hopelessness. Ceil slowly grew closer to Azrial as if he were his own son, never breaking their everlasting bond, mentoring him the ways of true righteousness. 10 years has past and everything in soul society has been great for him. Earning him new friends, becoming acquainted with his new family that he has been longing for his whole life and feeling everything is as it should be.
- Dead Memories:
One day on his 290th birthday, the Blue Moon War has yet calm down, in fact it has gotten a lot more vicious. While training his quarters, he was greeted by Ceil with a hug and telling Azrial how he has matured and earned everything that has been presented to him, never giving up. After his touching speech, Ceil was soon called to arms due to a disturbance just outside the walls of the Plaza. He ordered Azrial to remain at the quarters to stand guard. As Ceil was rushing off to action, along with 10 other members of squad 10, Azrial can’t help but feel this very familiar energy outside the walls and sense that he has encountered it before but can’t place quite figure out what it may be. 2 hours later he no longer sensed Ceil’s energy and quickly rushed to the walls of the plaza and sees nothing but carnage and war. As he analyzes the situation he see his mentor Ceil, and his other squad mates, decapitated with nothing but his unreleased zanpakuto scattered across his body with other weapons broken in two. Picking up his Mentors zanpakuto and holding close to his chest, fearing what he is seeing, he can’t help but burst into tears and denying what has happened. “HEY SMALL FRY IS THAT YOU?!?!”. He recognizes that voice and there is only one person that ever called him “Small Fry”. To his surprise he sees a very tall man in the distance, with scars all over his face with familiar attire. Its Fugiwara Takahashi. Quickly knowing that hes the culprit, Azrial stands guard with his fists held high preparing for combat. Fugiwara looks shocked that he is wearing that familiar black kimono that he despises so dearly. “Small Fry what the hell are you doing wearing that filth? And where have you been after all these years?”. Azrial stood silently. “Azrial please answer me!” as Fugiwara walks closer. “Stop you fucking monster!” Azrial screams at the top of his lungs. “Don’t come any closer! I saw what you and sapphire did, I saw everything that night, everything you have told me was a lie, everything you have taught me was a lie, everything about you is a TOTAL LIE!”. As the awkward silence filled the air, fugiwara stood there laughing. “Oh you finally figured it out, you finally realized what we are? Son you don’t know shit! You’re not better than we are…hell if anything your JUST LIKE ME!”. Azrial responds “No im not…I don’t feed on others to get what I want, I learned what you are, you’re a cold bloded murder, a thief and a liar. I learned what you have become. There is one thing you did get right. We share the same name and I will never change it since you were the only one to give me one. I will make the Takahashi name live on but though my own legacy, my own way. Not as a thieve, not as an so called “arrancar”…but as a Shimigami!”. As Fugiwara is laughing at his moving speech, the rest of the Takahash clan appeared, along with Sapphire. During the laughter Fugiwara, and the rest of the clan, unveiled their covered body parts revealing holes on different parts on each of their bodies. Fugiwaras was on his right hand where he always wore the black glove. “Why…why did you kill my mentor and half of my squad? Why did you attack the soul society?” Azrial asks in a hush tone. “Did I not teach you anything you hopeless child?” Fugiwara responds. “The soul society truly hates our kind, truly wants us to be erased from existence, never understanding the ways of an arrancer and what we must do to survive! I despise what they stand for and what they have done to me! That’s why we are at ar with those self-righteous hypocrites! and-“ While he’s rambling, Azrial puts away his mentors zanpakuto in his sheathe on his right side, where is belt strap is tied, then quickly interrupted Fugiwara as he shunpoed behind him, charged his energy to his fist, and executed a right hook to his left cheek. As the Takahashi clan stood in shock, Fugiwara is flying fast towards the wall, front entrance of the plaza; Azrial quickly rushes to him and unleashes a fury of blows to his chest with nothing but rage and anguish. As he’s decimating him, Fugiwara pulled his kimono forward and head butted him hard to his forehead. As Azrial stood dazed and confused, Fugiwara released a right hook to his spine and quickly following up with a kick to the chest, sending him high in the air. While sailing in the air, Azrial is unconscious not knowing that Fugiwara is rushing at full speed to grab him. As he grabbed him, he performed a seismic toss, sending both to back the the ground at full speed head first. As Fugiwara stood up from the rubble, unhurt, as he signals his family that he’s finished and Azrial is no more. “And to think I loved you like a son” he commented then proceeds to spit on him, in sign of disrespect. Unbeknownst to Fugiwara, Azrial masked his energy on purpose this whole fight to give Fugiwara the impression he has won and caused torment but revealed he is not dead, in fact tricking Fugiwara that he had the upper hand. He planted his belt strap, while they were soaring in midair, around his left foot without him noticing. Quickly Azrial Stood up and yanked the belt back forcing Fugiwara to the ground on his back. Azrial stood over him with his mentors sword pointed at his neck and quickly gathered whatever energy he had left. Fugiwara yelled “Oh that very art that I taught you, too bad its only childs play!” as he grabs Azrial’s neck with his right hand emitting whatever energy he has left to execute a fatal blast. He thought in the back of his mind to yell the name that his mentor called his zanpaktu. In his mind he hopes it may help him, as if his zanpaktu could understand his pain thus becoming one, then screamed at the top of his lungs “Reap! Kazashini!”. Hearing the desperation, and pain, in his voice his sword glowed. Then his mentor’s zanpaktu transformed into two scythe blades with a very long chain tying them together, as if they were nun chuku. He raised his both his arms then thrust his blades forward to slice Fugiwara’s neck, making him bleed out profusely. Slowly gasping for breath, while still grabbing Azrial’s neck, hes coughing up blood screaming “Shimigami Scum…”. After he gathered his last breathe, Azrial kicked his dead body downhill towards the Takahashi clan. As Azrial stares them down with the intent on executing all 3 of them, The rest of the gotei 13 showed up right behind him getting ready for battle. The Takahashi clan sensed that they are outmatched, knowing their leader is dead, and no chance on fighting the rest of the soul society with little preparation. “Just wait Small fry! We will be back and bigger than ever. We will fucking kill you and your scum of a family. Remember your name! Remember who gave it to you!” As she stormed off the opposite direction, retreating. 3 days has passed since the bloody battle and a funeral was held for Ceil, and the rest of his squad, at the main plaza of the soul society. As the last captain gave his eulogy, he called Azrial to say some parting words to close out the funeral. As Azrial approaches to the stand near his mentors coffin, he started to speak about the good times he has had with ceil. How he gave him a chance of redemption for his life and petty thievery before he came to the soul society. He also talked about how grateful he is to be his pupil and student for the last 100 years. Azrial then cried and couldn’t finish his speech, being escorted back to his by a nearby lieutenant. As the funeral came to a close he went back to his quarters and slept in his bed for 2 days contemplating his life once again, questioning everything that has been happening. He kept his distance from everyone, including his friends and colleagues. His attitude changed for the worst, completely changing his demeanor and attitude and how he views the world. Everything around him is falling apart. During his depression he trained himself to use his mentors zanpaktu and understand why it answered his desperate call even though he wasn’t his true master. An answer he has yet to figure out. 6 months after the Blue moon war, the captains of the Gotei 13 has announced the promotion of Azrial to Squad 10 Captain after what has happened in recent events and felt that he rather possessed the same amount of strength, experience and leadership of his former captain, if not more so. From that day on his overall character has changed and slowly regained his sanity along with his newly appointed position amongst the ranks of Squad 10.
